Daniel

Daniel was three years old when he was first referred to us from the Royal Children’s Hospital. He’s now 11, and we’ve continued to support him and his family over the years as his needs have changed.

How we’ve helped Daniel

Daniel first came to us for help with stability and support in his legs. He’s always enjoyed being active and keeping up with his friends, so staying mobile has been important for him and his family.

Over time, our focus has been to support his walking and stamina, while helping him continue to build strength and confidence in his movement.

Daniel’s family experience

When we asked what has stood out most, Daniel’s mum, Nyabony, spoke about the importance of clear communication. She values clear explanations and understanding what the plan is and why it matters.

She’s also been encouraged by how consistently Daniel has worn his AFO and the routine that’s developed over time.

“The AFO feels comfortable for Daniel and supports his muscles.”

“If Daniel feels something hurts, we can come back straight away and fix it.”

Nyabony shared that she feels reassured that, so far, Daniel hasn’t needed surgery or Botox. For their family, that has been an important part of his journey.

She also spoke about how busy life can be. Occasionally an appointment is forgotten, but she knows our team will call and help reschedule without fuss. That flexibility has made things easier for their family.

If something doesn’t feel right, they know they can come back.

Daniel’s perspective

When we asked Daniel how he would describe coming here, he said ‘it’s a fun and happy place’.

And when Nyabony speaks to other parents, her advice is simple: try Orthokids, follow the plan, and give it time.

We’re pleased to continue supporting Daniel as he grows.
